Five Pin Bowling at Delaney

October 27, 2007

Last weekend we traveled to the Thousand Islands region of Ontario, and had the opportunity to try some Five Pin Bowling at the Delaney Bowling Centre in Gananoque. I had never done Five pin, and was eager to give it a try.

Delaney 5 pin BowlingEmperor 5 Pin Bowling

A mix between ten pin and candlepin bowling, but like neither at the same time. The balls might be a bit bigger than the candlepin balls, and the pins are the same as ten pin, but the game only uses five balls. The pins are set up in the form of triangle, I believe something like 16 inches apart. The center pin counts as 5 points, the two pins next to center are 3, and the two edge ones are two points, so you can get a total of 15 points per frame. But a perfect game is 400 pts I believe. The owner of Delaney said that he is aware of only 3 perfect games be played their since it has been a bowling alley. Don’t worry, I came no where near that, but in two of the three games, I did break 100…woot.

Well I will have to say, as long as Lizzie and I are going to the Thousand Islands region for our summer vacations, we will have to make it a point to stop in and bowl a few frames on each visit. If you get to Gananoque, I suggest you check out Delaney5 pin bowling for some great fun.

Bowling clip on Falling Video

October 26, 2007

I saw this video this morning on Although it isn’t a Bowling video, it does have one really funny bowling fall.

Hope you enjoy. Will be posting about a five pin bowling experience I had last weekend in an up coming post.

Philadelphia Bowling Alley

April 26, 2007

We were just down in Philly over the past weekend for a Real Estate Expo, and took these pictures of the outside of the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley,

Lucky Stike Bowling Alley

which is across the street from the Marathon Grill on Chestnut Street in Philadelphia.

Lucky Stike Bowling Alley

It looks like a vintage bowling alley, but apparently there is a chain of them. I read on a review site that they are a bit pricey. Must be paying for the retro bowling alley feel.

Bowling Ball Construction

floating balls

Have you seen the floating bowling ball experiement ?  I also saw the experiement  on tv. When I was teaching, I always aspired to do these types of experiements.
broken ball

So I get it that if the ball is heavier than a certain weight( above 12lbs) it will sink. So what the heck makes a ball so heavy or light. It seems that I am not alone in my curiosity, many people to include the guys in the above picture who investigated a little closer have wondered the same. According the articleReactive, Urethane & Polyester. Match the Ball to the Conditions prior to the 1960’s they were made of hard rubber. Then in the 1970′ came polyester balls. Hmm, I just thought it was used for clothing. Then came urethane, which now days is used in some low end balls. The new thing is balls are reactive balls, which means the ball is able to react to what the bowler tells it to do much easier. I have a feeling these reactive balls are something that a beginner like me does not need. Hmm, not quite sure about this reactive bowling technology, I may have to do a little more research on this. Well if you are a bowler, and you read this, please leave me a comment and tell me what a reactive ball is made of, and what it can do?

Bowling Balls from

September 19, 2006– Came across this site some time ago, and for some reason unknown to me, I keep coming back to it. is a bowling equipment site that sells discounted bowling equipment, to include bowling shoes, bowling shirts, bowling bags, and of course bowling balls. I think the thing that I like the best about the site is the exclusive Got Balls shirts. The sexual innuendo of the slogan just appeals to my maturity level, which my girlfriend says is frequently at 13. Anyway, Cheapbowlingballs, has lots of great gear to help make your bowling game that much more pleasurable, without putting a huge dent in your wallet, leaving you with more cash to bowl a few more games.

Bowling Information

September 19, 2006

Since I have been doing bowling research, I have come across more than a few bowling information sites. One of the best I have found is which has some really helpful articles for begginers, advanced bowlers, and expert bowlers. One of my favorite articles on the site is This Game Should Be Called “Spares” where the reader is offered some stategic advice that will dramatically increase their bowling scores. Another good article which I recommend is Bowling Etiquette, since more than one time while bowling, I have come across people who really needed a lesson or two from Emily Post.

If you are searching for some information that will make you a better bowler, then is the site for you.

Bowling Links Partners

September 19, 2006

Just got some new linking partners, althought they are mostly unrleated to bowling, however, they are all sports related sites, many of which are from Italy. Some pretty interesting sites. I translated the ones in Italian via Babel Fish. The bobsledding site actually has quite a bit of rank. However, I am not sure about its connection between Nascar and Bobsledding. Seems like a bazar connection. Oh well who am I to judge. LOL.

Bowling Links

September 18, 2006

Another block of bowling submissions. Noticed that the site is now not cached in google. Last week I put in Bowling Cache into the search bar, and it was number one, this week it is no were to be seen. It may be fruitless, but I am going to list this weeks submissions also, but in this new post, not in last weeks post.

Cached Bowling Links

September 15, 2006

It seems that some of the links are cached(about 1/3), but some are not. Not quite sure what the reason is that all of them are not cached. I will have to check on them over the weekend. So for a marketing standpoint, I am not sure if this is a good method or not. If it helped to get those third cached, and my website is on the site or appears shortly, then I would say it is a marketing success. It also can be used as a three way reciprocal link page, which should help with getting one way links.

As I am working on this blog, I am also developing it, and finding other uses. I may add more bowling related topics to include site reviews, product reviews, and bowling information. I have also thought about turning it into an SEO/SEM Blog.

Bowling C.H. Blog Progress

September 13, 2006
  • I will make a master list and have a link to that page on the side bar under pages, but will use the home page of the directories.
  • Change to title from Cache Hypothesis to Bowling Cache Hypothesis.
  • Yesterday, added 10 more directories, and also added feed buttons.

Inorder to get this site cached, I will:

  • Submit this site to several directories.
  • Add links on several other blogs.
  • Get links on  a few bowling sites.
